"When you approach children with authenticity and respect, they open up to you."
Why
At Paidion we comfort, understand, accompany, restore. We view each child’s and family’s story within its particular cultural framework and that culture’s customs and are culturally sensitive to diverse value systems. We believe that respecting the child and their story is paramount and continuously reflect on our own thoughts and actions to ensure this. We offer a trust relationship beyond hierarchies and see the child as the expert of their own needs. We believe strongly in letting the child participate and lead the way in their own healing process and invite each child lovingly and playfully, seriously and thoughtfully, clearly and decidedly to take us on this journey with them. We focus on idealizations and shadows, on personal resources, skills and guide in changing patterns in the way of the child’s happiness.
We use our empathy and guard against any and all judgement. We acknowledge the emotional pain and provide a safe space for expressing it and growing through, out of and in spite of it. We support not only children, teenagers and young adults but also accompany siblings, mothers and fathers on their healing journey as a family. We look forward to be of service to you.
In order to care for even more children Paidion Hamburg is opening a new therapy practice in Berlin as of October 2021. Click here to find out more….

Who
Psychotherapist for children and adolescents
Malin Lamcken has been interested in aerial acrobatics since she was a teenager: aerial acrobatics. That's right, she was a trainer! And anyone who wants to know what vertical aerial means in this context should ask her. Malin Lamcken combines body and soul in a special way: in Paidion she is a child and adolescent psychotherapist and in her life she loves sport, endurance, creativity, piano and classical art. She has always had an inner connection to the sea, but still needs the country life. Connectedness is written on her soul, so to speak. And that suits us so well.
Specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy
Daniel Brockmann is a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. He is a child and adolescent psychiatrist with heart and soul. Children who are burdened with especially challenging situations are lucky to have him because he is an expert in working with complex children’s souls in such a way that positive developments can be achieved with his great patience and compassion. In our practice he is our child psychiatrist and psychotherapist.
Practice Manager
From wound dressings to - very complex – keeping our practice running smoothly, she is a specialist in practice management. Coming from southern Germany and contributing her great expertise in practice processes and dog management from the start, nothing would work without her. She is the one who has the initial contact with all children and parents. On the phone, she is our unique voice to the outside world. She is our apetizer.
Practising doctor
...has travelled a long road as a doctor from somatic, physical medicine to child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. Experienced in life, experienced with family, and experienced with clinical work, Bettina Flint has long since found her own psychotherapeutic identity. What golf and travelling have to do with it is her secret. Bettina Flint's positive curiosity about new people, about every child and young person, is combined in a special way with her ability to hold the most difficult emotional states and remain patient and understanding. You want to have her peace of mind. And now we have it and are grateful.

From the very young to the souls of children - this is how you could describe the path of the enthusiastic paediatric psychiatrist Anne Friedrich. In neonatology, the study of newborns and premature babies, it became clear to her that something crucial was missing from her original goal as a paediatrician. The decisive factor for Anne Friedrich is the encounter with and respect for the child's soul. She has now been working in child and adolescent psychiatry for many years - and is still enthusiastic. Anne Friedrich can be infected anew in every contact by the warmth and depth of children's souls. She has been part of our team from the very beginning.
Student of psychology (M.Sc.)
Dunja Endrikat, a psychology student in our team, is a good example of someone who is able to get the best out of unknown and new situations. Perhaps this is also due to her curiosity about other countries, cultures and people in general. She familiarised herself so calmly, quickly and professionally with testing psychology as well as the practice procedures and management at reception that after a short time we had the impression that she had always been there.

Trauma therapist in education (DeGPT)
Ali Chahvand is a globetrotter across cultures, a border crosser in intellectual debates and a keeper of childlike spiritual integrity. What comes across as a bit stilted translates as: he is always interested in other habits and views, Ali Chahvand loves discussion and he would always say that it was good for him to become a child and adolescent psychiatrist from the bottom of his heart. A good pinch of humour never hurts, he would add.
Child and adolescent psychotherapist
Sandra Morelli is a child and adolescent psychotherapist. She works with heart and mind: Her expertise is a particularly broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic interventions. Pain is especially of interest and relevant to her. The pain that comes from the body, but also the pain that manifests itself in the body originating from the soul. In our practice she is our psychotherapist.

...stands for balance. She balances activity, e.g. psychotherapeutic work as a child and adolescent psychotherapist, with vinyasa yoga, socialising with green grass, the city with cooking, preferably Vietnamese or Italian. Less is more - is a phrase that belongs to her, but it also means that Leonie Saßmannshausen always prepares precisely, is focussed at work, and that means that she is always one hundred percent with her patients' children. Oh yes, children: it's inborn in her. She has always taken responsibility for younger children and even trained with children in the circus from an early age. How good that she is now with us with all this wealth.
Psychological psychotherapist
Emily Carroll - that sounds Irish and German. Emily Carroll can also do both: treat children and adolescents as well as adults psychotherapeutically. That is why she takes care of the parents of our therapy children, either accompanying them or offering them individual psychotherapy. Emily Carroll completes our mental health support from a family perspective. And then she's also an expert on anxiety disorders in addition to her extensive expertise in psychotherapy for young and old, open to any suffering that the souls in her care might bring with them.
Emily Carroll is currently on maternity leave.
Psychotherapist for children and adolescents
What is the best way to spend a lifetime with children? Actually, only with education, paediatrics or psychology. With a humanities orientation at heart, Stephanie Zitzler ended up in psychology - that's how you could describe her starting point. Through a special youth welfare project, she was able to demonstrate and develop several of her outstanding qualities: Her love of children and young people, her enthusiasm for psychotherapy and her patience and perseverance. As a result, she is now perfectly suited to the healing of children's souls. And when Stephanie Zitzler is not travelling in the first two fields, she can be found lively among people and in the midst of culture.

...is living her dream job. It is her and our good fortune that it is that of a child and adolescent psychotherapist. Swantje Nolting knows her own children, has respect for the courage of children and admiration for their development and is grateful for the connection between this personal and professional field. She is an expert in following children and, even better, young people on their path - into their world, their impulses, their ideas. Then (almost) anything is possible with Swantje Nolting, and then you will find her on the football pitch as well as at wild concerts. In between are the mountains and the sea. Participatory child and youth psychotherapy in action, you could call it. And: garden! What a variety, what a wonderful addition to our psychotherapy.
Psychological psychotherapist
Sina-Valeska Kriesel is a psychological psychotherapist for children and adults and the managing director of the practice. It is therefore clear that she can do more than just one thing: leading with compassion and always keeping the overview of needs on the one hand, and treating with commitment and empathy on the other. An unusual combination that predestines her to represent our practice and at the same time have an open heart for the patients. She has particular expertise in the treatment of eating disorders. In our practice, she is, so to speak, our psychotherapeutic manager, who looks out for the well-being of patients and therapists alike.

Supervisor
Michael Schulte-Markwort, is a doctor for child and adolescent psychiatry. Even as a child he was fascinated by the idea of being able to see the world through other people's eyes. Today he’s pretty knowledgeable on the topic of mental health in children, has written several books on the topic and is considered an expert for children with dyspraxia or affective dysregulations among other things. His passion is psychodrama, a creative treatment method. For many years he headed the clinic for child and adolescent psychiatry at the UKE and Altona Children's Hospital. If you meet children at their level, they respond with respect, is his credo. In addition to his medical work, he is our supervisor and mentor at our Paidion practice.

Jane Stetzuhn, a trusted and experienced medical colleague who has been with us since November 2023, is always good for surprises. Perhaps you could say that she is an expert in the unexpected. That's refresh.ing and lively. It has nothing to do with Rapunzel and at the same time, Jane triggers a lot of positive fantasies. She is interested in the why from an early age, is non-normative and at the same time curious in the best sense of the word. And fond of children, which in her case means a serious and at the same time playful interest in childhood. She also knows a lot about role-playing games and the world of video games. But she should tell us what that means herself. Oh, and she knows a lot about addiction.
